Why Montessori?

Montessori is a proven and effective methodology for educating children.  There is no ‘daycare’ component – everything that our students do in the classroom (and even out) has an educational purpose and the child is continually learning even though they think that they are just having fun.

The Montessori teaching methodology is different from traditional learning in that it offers hands on learning and treats each child individually.  Each child’s unique gifts are fostered and they are introduced to academics at a very early age.  Diamante in particular accepts children who are at least two years old.  At this age, a child’s mind is like a sponge and they can learn and adapt very quickly, making it an ideal starting age for education.

One of our goals at Diamante is to develop each child’s love of learning.  We do this through a carefully prepared environment set up by a trained Montessori teacher to meet the needs of a mixed age classroom.  Each area of the classroom offers works specifically introduced from easiest to more difficult.  Each child becomes responsible to choose works they have been shown and that they need to master.  Older students assist younger students and learning becomes very individualized.  Repeating works and exploring different ways to use materials is all part of the process in a well prepared Montessori environment.
